Moneybox was set up in 2004 with a vision to provide mortgages and insurance solutions for customers of real estate companies. We could see first-hand how a home purchase causes considerable change in people’s lives – and we didn’t see anyone guiding customers through that change in a very supportive and empathetic way. Often, when large sums of money are involved, empathy goes out the window.

At Moneybox we decided to put the personal touch back into those transactions – and not treat them like transactions at all. We started treating home buyers like people and have always put relationships first.

With over 30 years’ experience, John is a true veteran of the financial services industry. As a founding shareholder of Moneybox in 2004, John is committed to maintaining the business’s customer focused philosophy and to keeping Moneybox at the forefront of innovation when it comes to insurance and lending solutions. On weekends you’ll find John spending time with family and friends or around the sports grounds.

Dharmesh Lala

Director

Dharmesh is a shareholder and director of Moneybox. Since joining Moneybox in 2007 as a Lending Advisor, Dharmesh has established a reputation for achieving outstanding results for his clients. With the benefit of a banking career, a BCA from Victoria University and 15 years working as a mortgage broker, Dharmesh is one of the most experienced members of the Moneybox team. Outside of his busy work schedule, Dharmesh’s young family and a passion for sport keeps him on his toes.

Kirsty Williams

Lending Advisor

Kirsty joined Moneybox in 2016, bringing four and a half years of retail banking experience, specialising in mortgage lending. Kirsty is committed to delivering the best possible service to every client. In her spare time Kirsty enjoys dining out, travel and time with family and friends.

Hiren Mani

Leading Administrator

Hiren has been with Moneybox for over two years now under the new internship programme. He previously attended Wellington College and is currently studying Finance and Property at Massey University. Hiren’s continuous growing knowledge around the mortgage industry helps in assisting the team to deliver the best outcomes for their clients. Outside of work, you will find Hiren playing hockey or fishing at the local hotspot.

Rob McIntyre

Lending and Insurance Advisor

Rob has over 20 years’ experience in banking and a wealth of knowledge when it comes to all things lending and insurance. A Hutt local, Rob has been serving clients in both central Wellington and the greater Hutt Valley area since he joined Moneybox in 2015. On the weekends, Rob can be found playing a casual game of golf or relaxing with his family.

Allister McIntyre

Allister is Lower Hutt born and bred, growing up in the Hutt Valley and attending St Bernard’s College. Now based at Moneybox in the CBD, Allister services clients in both central Wellington and the greater Hutt Valley area. After leaving school Allister went to work for ANZ Bank, where he was based for 14 years. During his time at ANZ Bank, Allister served hundreds of customers in the Wellington Region and achieved some great results. Specialising in Commercial, Business and Residential Lending as well as Life and Disability Insurance for over 10 years, Allister brings to Moneybox with a wealth of experience and knowledge in the mortgage and insurance space.

Teresa Kavanagh

Personal Assistant

Teresa is the newest member of the Moneybox team, involved in both lending and insurance administration. With a background primarily in education, Teresa has recently returned to live in Wellington, to embark on an exciting career change into Finance. Having an adventurous side, Teresa spent two years living and working in Japan and has also traveled extensively throughout Asia and Europe while living in London. As a self-proclaimed foodie, Teresa has loved living in Melbourne for the last five years, but Wellington will always be home.

Benn Florance

General Insurance Manager

Benn heads up the Moneybox general insurance team and is your go to for domestic and commercial insurances. Prior to joining the Moneybox team in 2014, Benn obtained several years of financial services experience, with previous roles in New Zealand and in the UK. Benn is a keen golfer and footballer (living and breathing all things Arsenal). He also has a passion for travel and quality cuisine.

Michael Gray

General Insurance Broker

Michael is our latest addition to the Moneybox general insurance team. After graduating from Victoria University in 2014, Michael has spent several years managing a hotel/bar before joining us in early 2020. Michael specialises in Domestic insurance, however also provides support to Benn across the board. On weekends you will find Michael either playing for his beloved Eastbourne rugby club, or on course at a local horse racing meet.

Jo Hurley

Jo provides EA support to John and being highly organised, takes onboard all office administration tasks. She has a background in banking and real estate. When not at work you will find Jo either in the garden, at Pilates, out walking or enjoying the company of family and friends with a chardonnay or two.
